  • Ensure your Speakers and Microphone work: You will need to make sure your Speakers work as it will be used for your Listening Test and also that your Microphone works as it will be used for your Speaking Test. To ensure that both work, go to the following website and test them before you start your Mock Test. Click here: Microphone and Speaker Test.
  • General Training or Academic: You'd need to know whether you're taking the General Training or Academic IELTS. If you're not sure, just choose "General Training".
  • Format of this Online Mock Test: Please be familiar with what's going to happen when you start this online mock test:
  • Listening Test (~30 minutes): The 1st test you'll take is the Listening Test. This test consists of 40 questions and is divided into 4 Sections - i.e. 10 questions per Section. Just listen to the recording and follow the instructions. You will listen to each recording only once, so pay careful attention to what you hear. Write down your answers as you listen to the recording. At the end of the recording, you will get 2 minutes to check your answers before the test moves on to the Reading Test.
  • Reading Test (60 minutes): The Reading Test consists of 40 questions and is divided into 3 Parts - i.e. 13 or 14 questions per Part. You should spend about 20 minutes per part as you have 60 minutes in total. At the end of 60 minutes, the test moves on to the Writing Test.
  • Writing Test (60 minutes): The Writing Test consists of 2 Questions/Parts. It is recommended that you spend 20 minutes on Part 1 and 40 minutes on Part 2. At the end of 60 minutes, your IELTS mock test will finish.
  • Speaking Test (~10 minutes): The Speaking Test consists of 3 Parts. You will need a working Microphone for this Test. In the real IELTS exam, your Speaking Test will be conducted in a room with an examiner. However, for this computerized version, you will respond to audio questions and speak your answers into your microphone.
  • Getting your IELTS Marks (Band Score): In order to get your IELTS Band Score, you'd need to go through the whole test process and not stop halfway. Once you've finished the whole test, please follow the instructions on final page in order to get your results.
  • Please take note of a special ID that will be given to you in the next few pages. You will need it in order to retrieve your results.

When you're ready to start, please click on the button below (however, please proceed only when you've done the "Microphone and Speaker Test" above or the test will not work):
